Success in any activity requires planning and life is no different that is why life planning is vital to success. If you want to succeed in life and achieve your goals you’ll have to sit down and write a plan for your life.

The first step in life planning is easy just determine what you want out of life. You can determine this by asking such questions as: Where do you want to live? How much money do you want to make? Do you want a family? If you have a family what do you want for your family? What sort of home do you want to live in? What sort of car do you want to drive? Where do you want to vacation? Where do you want to retire? What sort of career do you want? What colleges do you want your kids to attend? What further education do you wish to acquire for yourself? Do you want to start your own business? If so what sort of business do you want to own?

The next step is also fairly easy you’ll have to research your plans and find out what you’ll need to achieve your goals. A good place to start is online there’s a lot of great information available on the Internet but be warned there are also a lot scams and lies disguised as information on the web. Another place to look is the public library, especially the larger libraries in the big cities, which contain books on almost every subject including life planning.

The research is important because it will show you what you will need to do to achieve your goals. Without sound research to base it upon life planning will be pointless. Be warned research may also show you that your goals are no realistic and force you to change them.

Once the research is done you can sit down and write the plan out. Writing the plan is the easy part, just write down your goals then jot out an outline of how you plan to get there. The plan should be simple and it should have a time-line attached so you can monitor your progress.

When you start life planning it would be a good idea to start small. Start with one goal such as starting your own business and write out a simple time table of things that you will have to accomplish to achieve that goal. When starting a business you should write out step one research business opportunities and decide which one I want to pursue and learn what I’ll need to pursue it and state you’ll complete this research this within two weeks. Once that’s done, you can write out a plan for creating the business and getting it into operation.

When you get into the habit of planning you’ll be able to start making plans for your other goals and eventually a plan for your entire life. You’ll also get into the very important habit of researching your plans and learn how to set realistic achievable goals.
Finally there’s the hardest part to any life planning process: sticking to the plan.

The best plan in the world will do you no good if it all it is sit in a drawer or a file on your computer. You must find a way of reminding yourself of the plan every day so you will have to think about it and take action to achieve your goals.

The best way to do this is to place the plan in a place where you can see it every day so you won’t forget about it. One great place to post a plan is on the refrigerator, that way you can see it every time you reach for a snack or a cold drink.
